Dr. Martin Radke

What is prosthodontics?

Prosthodontics is a dental specialty recognized by the American Dental Association that deals with cosmetic dentistry, dental implants, crowns, bridges, dentures, and temporomandibular joint disorders.

What does it mean that your practice is "limited to prosthodontics"?

My practice is oriented towards restoring worn or damaged dentitions to optimum function and esthetics using crowns, bridges, complete and removable partial dentures, and dental implants.

What is a prosthodontist?

Prosthodontists are dental specialists in the restoration and replacement of teeth who have completed dental school plus three additional years of advanced training and education in an ADA-accredited prosthodontics graduate program.

We are extensively trained to be experts in cosmetics, dental implants, crowns, bridges, dentures, and temporomandibular disorders.

What is a Board Certified Prosthodontist?

In general, Board certification means that your specialist has successfully passed a rigorous examination established by an independent authority (board) for the specialty. A Board Certified Prosthodontist means that your Prosthodontist has successfully passed a rigorous four-part examination conducted by the American Board of Prosthodontics.

Is your office wheel chair accessible?

Unfortunately the office is not wheel chair accessible. We are located on the 2nd floor with stairs, and no elevator.

Do I have to be referred from a general dentist?

As long as you need a prosthodontist for your dental care, you are welcome with or without referral.

Do you do implant dentistry?

Yes, I want to be involved from the beginning of treatment. Patients need to have a prosthodontic treatment plan prior to having implant surgery and proper follow-up care to keep the implants healthy.

Do you have a parking space available for your patients?

We do not have dedicated parking. Patients must use street parking.

Why is your office open only two days?

Dr. Radke works for the Veterans Administrations (VA) at Mare Island as a prosthodontist 2.5 days per week.

Why do you work at the VA?

It is very professionally rewarding to be able to treat a great variety of difficult prosthodontic patients without the constraints of finances and dental insurance coverage. I also enjoy working in a large group practice setting with other specialists and general dentists where we can share ideas and keep current in techniques and materials.
